Signe Wiingaard
Uddannelse
I praksis
Training and Experience
I completed my Masters Degree in Psychology from Copenhagen University in 2007. Since then, I have worked with psychotherapy and research in Denmark, Canada and New Zealand. In New Zealand, I further completed a PhD about online therapy and a 3-year post graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology.
My work experience includes private practice, an in-patient unit for mothers with post-natal depression and an NGO focused on neuropsychological assessment after head injuries. I have worked with and treated grief, depression, anxiety, PTSD and psychological adjustment after head injuries and other psychical injuries. I have throughout my work life participated in continued development practices (aka workshops, conferences etc.), done presentations for colleges and students and been involved in various research projects.
Applied
I am curious and interested in the interaction between the mind, body and brain and believe psychotherapy should be anchored in research. I love working with people and explore potential for development and positive change. In 2014, I completed a short training programme in metacognitive therapy (with CEKTOS). Since then, I have used this therapeutic approach regularly with clients and have been impressed with its effectiveness. I also have extensive experience working with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness and more traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
When I am not working, I attempt to juggle a busy family with my three kids and a partner who frequently travels for work. When it all goes to pieces, I often use metacognitive techniques to manage negative thoughts about the challenges of being a mum in an increasingly busy world.
Where and What
I have worked online since 2012 and offer therapy through a video-link in English as well as Danish. Due to time difference between Denmark and New Zealand, I only offer lave evening sessions in the Danish Winter (20-21 and 21-22) and early morning sessions in the Danish Summer (7-8, 8-9). If you live outside of the European time zone other options are available.
Areas I can help with include stress management, anxiety, depression, psychological adjustment after physical injuries (including head injuries) as well as body image and weight difficulties.
